(Verse 1: Noun)
A noun is a person, place, or thing!
Like a baby who loves to sing!
A house where we live and play,
And a ball we throw every day!
Let’s all point to a friend (person), our classroom (place), and a toy (thing)!
(Verse 2: Verb)
A verb is an action, what we can do!
Like jump up high, me and you!
We can run so fast on the ground,
And laugh out loud with a happy sound!
Let’s all jump, run in place, and laugh!
(Verse 3: Adjective)
An adjective tells us more, it’s true!
Like a red ball and skies so blue!
A happy face with a big, bright smile,
And a little bug crawling for a mile!
Let’s point to something red, something blue, make a happy face, and show something small with our fingers!
(Verse 4: Adverb)
An adverb tells how verbs are done!
Like we walk slowly, one by one!
We can sing loudly for all to hear,
And wave quickly, have no fear!
Let’s walk slowly, sing loudly, and wave quickly!
(Verse 5: Pronoun)
A pronoun takes a noun’s place, see!
Instead of “Lily,” we can say “she”!
Instead of “Tom,” we can say “he” with glee,
And “it” for a block or a buzzing bee!
Let’s point to a girl and say “she,” a boy and say “he,” and an object and say “it”!
(Verse 6: Preposition)
A preposition shows where things are at!
Like the book is on the mat!
The bird flies over the big blue sky,
And the toy is under way up high!
Let’s put our hands on something, over something, and under something!
(Verse 7: Conjunction)
A conjunction joins words, it’s neat!
Like “big and small” and “candy or sweet”!
It helps us put two ideas together,
Like sunshine and good weather!
Let’s say “big and small” and “candy or sweet”!
(Verse 8: Interjection)
An interjection shows feelings so clear!
Like “Wow!” when something wonderful is here!
Or “Oh!” when we get a little bump,
And “Yay!” when we all jump and thump!
Let’s say “Wow!” with excitement, “Oh!” with a little surprise, and “Yay!” with joy!
(Outro)
Nouns, verbs, adjectives too!
Adverbs, pronouns, for me and you!
Prepositions help us see just where,
Conjunctions join, showing we care!
And interjections show how we feel,
The parts of speech are really real!
